Fuel Vouchers

Foodbank can provide fuel vouchers to foodbank clients who have a fuel crisis.

The vouchers are available if:
-You have already been given a foodbank voucher
AND
- You have already been disconnected and have no money to top-up
- You will be disconnected in 48 hours and have no money to top-up
AND
- you have a pre-payment meter

If you do not meet these criteria then there is useful information about how you can get help here

If you do meet the criteria then mention your problems with fuel to one of our volunteers when you bring your voucher to foodbank. They will pass you onto someone who can help you with the voucher. What happens next:

  • the voucher is valid for any electricity or gas supplier
  • if you receive the voucher before 3:30 pm it will be issued within 1 working day and is valid for 30 days
  • the amount on the voucher will vary – it is more in winter and less in summer
  • the vouchers can be used at Paypoint or Post Office (if you want to pay British Gas the voucher has to be used at a Post Office)
  • the voucher cannot be used on-line to top-up
  • you can split the voucher between gas and electricity as suits you

The voucher is intended to be used in a crisis so there are limits on the number of vouchers you can claim and how frequently you can claim.

If you do receive a fuel voucher you should read this leaflet about how to use it
