COVID-19 Update

22nd March 2020

We are still open! The guidance is changing every day, but at the moment we are still open. We will keep this page updated regularly with information about what’s happening at Tameside South & Longdendale Foodbank.

As the coronavirus pandemic unfolds in the UK, our main priority is ensuring the safety of everyone who comes to our foodbank – whether it’s someone needing help, someone volunteering their time, or someone making a donation.

Needing help

If your situation has changed due to COVID-19 and you need food, then please get in contact with us. We have set up a telephone referral line. Anyone who needs a voucher can ring 0333 772 1916, between the hours of 10am-3pm on Mon-Fri, to get a telephone referral to the foodbank. You will be given a code you can bring to the Hattersley Foodbank (Hollingworth Foodbank TBC) to collect a parcel.

We have changed the system to minimise the risk to our clients and volunteers. We do a thorough clean and sanitise before we open and will ask everyone to wash their hands on arrival.

We have streamlined the system. Clients will give us a voucher and we will pass over pre-prepared parcels as soon as possible. We will maintain social distancing at all times. Clients will not be offered a brew or any signposting.

NB: If you have any symptoms of COVID-19, such as a dry and persistent cough or a fever, then please do not come to the foodbank. If they do not live in your household, you can send a friend or family member to collect your food parcels. Alternatively, if this is not an option for you, then tell the telephone referral service and they will make arrangements.

Volunteers and donations

If you would like to donate but are social distancing, The Village Store and One-Stop on Market Street, Hollingworth have donation boxes for the foodbank at St Mary’s Church.

Alternatively, if you are staying inside but would still like to help, then you can donate via www.givey.com/tamesidesouthlongdendalefoodbankltd

NB: Please follow government guidelines. If you, or one of your household, displays symptoms, please do not come to the foodbank and self-isolate for 14 days.
